PSA BDP: Defining Emissions Targets for a Sustainable Future

PSA BDP has taken a major step in its sustainability journey by committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a global framework that helps companies establish credible and measurable emissions reduction targets.
The decision reflects the company’s commitment to not only reducing its environmental footprint but also supporting its customers in meeting their own sustainability objectives.
Formed in 2022 following PSA International’s acquisition of BDP International, PSA BDP offers a comprehensive range of supply chain, transportation and logistics solutions. Serving multinational businesses across diverse industries, the company has also made sustainability a key component of its operations.
Earlier this year, PSA BDP launched its Carbon Dashboard, a tool designed to help customers track and reduce their freight emissions.
Now, its pledge to SBTi marks a further demonstration of its resolve to tackle one of the logistics industry’s biggest challenges: decarbonisation.
Sustainability lies at the heart of PSA BDP’s strategy. With 98% of its emissions coming from freight transportation, PSA BDP is focusing on both short-term and long-term goals in line with the SBTi’s net-zero standards.
Initially, it will concentrate on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which cover direct emissions from its operations and purchased energy.
An external audit, following the ISO 14064 standard for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, is already under way to ensure accurate reporting.
At PSA BDP, we are fully committed to leading the supply chain industry towards a low-carbon future and are working proactively to reduce emissions across key areas.
We recognise the urgency of taking action as an organisation to further our own sustainability goals as well as enable our customers to achieve their emissions reduction goals.
By 2025, the company also plans to set Scope 3 emissions targets. These cover the broader supply chain, including emissions generated by transportation providers and suppliers.
Ambitious timelines, such as achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, underline the company’s commitment to sustainability, while near-term targets for 2030 and 2035 ensure incremental progress.
This structured approach, guided by the SBTi’s proven methodology, positions PSA BDP as a leader in sustainable logistics. It not only sets an example for the industry but also supports the global shift toward carbon neutrality and a circular economy.
Empowering customers with the Carbon Dashboard
Reducing emissions goes hand-in-hand with helping PSA BDP’s customers meet their own environmental goals.
Central to this effort is the company’s Carbon Dashboard, a tool launched earlier in 2024 to provide detailed freight emissions data.
Designed with an industry-leading methodology, the dashboard enables shippers to measure emissions from various transport modes, including pre and post-carriage legs of the journey.
The dashboard integrates the EcoTransIT World emissions calculator, a tool aligned with the ISO 14083 standard and compliant with the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework.
By calculating CO2-equivalent emissions across shipping routes, the dashboard offers customers actionable insights into optimising their logistics strategies.
For example, the tool analyses freight lanes, carriers and container fill rates – critical factors for both emissions reduction and cost savings. By showing the link between container capacity usage and carbon intensity, customers can identify inefficiencies and make changes that drive sustainable shipping.
Beyond data collection, the dashboard also highlights how logistics operations can be streamlined. This includes reducing empty container miles, improving loading efficiency and selecting lower-emission transport modes when feasible.
A clear path toward a low-carbon future
PSA BDP’s decision to adopt the SBTi framework signals its determination to lead by example in the logistics sector. Through its focus on measurable goals, robust data systems and alignment with global standards, the company is helping to chart a path toward a greener supply chain.
With tools like the Carbon Dashboard and clear targets for emissions reduction, PSA BDP is taking decisive steps to transform how supply chains operate in an increasingly carbon-conscious world.
By combining innovative technology with bold ambitions, the company positions itself – and its customers – for a more sustainable future.
