XPO Logistics Europe Secures EcoVadis Sustainability Gold

For four consecutive years, XPO held the Silver Medal, but this recent leap to Gold shows the company’s growing dedication to sustainable practices.
XPO’s efforts to enhance its sustainability strategies include its innovative LESS® (Low Emissions Sustainable Solutions) programme.
By offering customers transport options like biofuels and multimodal solutions, XPO is helping to reduce carbon emissions and drive greener logistics.
XPO’s end-to-end services, which include full-load, part-load and last-mile delivery, are all built on a foundation of advanced technology.
By using tech to optimise delivery routes and cut down on empty kilometres, the company has not only boosted service efficiency but also made significant strides toward lowering its environmental footprint.
XPO has set ambitious long-term goals, including achieving carbon neutrality across its European operations by 2050.
Its ongoing efforts in risk management, diversity and inclusion and ethical practices have all contributed to this recognition.
Luis Gómez, President of XPO Logistics Europe, proudly shared the company’s commitment: “Achieving the EcoVadis Gold Medal is a testament to XPO’s relentless drive to improve our operational practices and sustainability initiatives.”
How do EcoVadis ratings work?
EcoVadis, a leading provider of sustainability ratings, scores companies on four main criteria: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
Companies are assessed on a scale of 0 to 100, with those scoring above 58 eligible for an EcoVadis Medal. These scores are periodically updated to reflect changing sustainability standards.
For context, as of 1 July 2024, a Gold Medal is awarded to companies scoring 73 or higher, placing them in the top 5% globally.
XPO’s Gold Medal reflects its rank in the 97th percentile, showcasing how far the company has come in its CSR journey.
XPO isn’t alone in its achievements. Companies across industries strive for recognition from EcoVadis, with the Platinum Medal being the highest honour, awarded to the top 1%.
Some companies to have earned this elite distinction include Atos and Wilo Group, while UK-based Whistl Group shares XPO’s Gold status. Venator Materials PLC, another notable recipient, moved up from Silver to Gold, entering the top 4% of all assessed companies.
The road ahead for XPO
The EcoVadis Gold Medal isn’t just a milestone for XPO; it marks a step towards even greater sustainability goals. With its comprehensive approach to CSR and a clear vision for the future, XPO is positioning itself as a leader in eco-friendly logistics.
Moving forward, XPO plans to continue evolving its sustainability practices, focusing on meeting the environmental challenges that lie ahead.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to leading the way in sustainable logistics, not just meeting but exceeding the evolving expectations of our valued customers, partners and stakeholders,” added Luis.
XPO’s success illustrates the growing importance of sustainability in logistics, setting an example for others in the industry to follow.
